Overview:

Witness the 7000meters Himalayan Club - Kamet (7756m), Trishul (7120m), Chaukhamba (7128m), and the great divine peak of Nanda Devi (7817m) and its twin Nanda Devi East (7434m). This trek offers impressive skyline of these mighty Himalayan mountains from close quarters.

If you are a beginner trekkers, then Kuari Pass trek would be the best to start with. Kuari Pass Trek is also one of the best winter treks in the Himalayas. Although it can be done round the year, but winter is the best time to experience the unmatched beauty of Lord Curzon Trail. Very few people know the fact that 'Lord Curzon' discovered a trek route of Kuari Pass in the Garhwal Himalayas. Because of this reason, the Kuari Pass trek is also known as 'Lord Curzon Trail'.

You will find beautiful forests which are really old with blooming rhododendron and oak trees. Every time, the virgin alpine meadows give the forest entry beautiful than before. The region is used extensively by the local shepherds, and it is a great activity to explore one of the richest meadows in the Himalayas to get a full view of the splendid snow-clad peaks.



Itinerary:

Day 01: Dehradun/Haridwar to Joshimath  (265 km Drive/ 10 hours)

Start your long uphill drive to Joshimath from Haridwar/Dehradun between 5:30 AM to 6:00 AM. Enroute, you'll pass through Rishikesh - The Adventure Capital Of India. Witness the adventure junkies with full of thrills in white Ganga River Rafting. You'll feel blessed to witness the holy confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers to form the Ganga River at Devaprayag.  Arrive Joshimath at evening for overnight stay.


Day 02: Joshimath to Chitrakantha (10 Km Drive, 6 Km Trek/4 Hrs)

After early morning breakfast, drive to Dhak village, the starting point of the trek. The village comes after a picturesque ride of 30 min where you get beautiful views of Dronagiri peaks. After that gear up to start 6 km trek to lower Chitrakhana. After a trek of 1.5 km, you will pass through Karachi village on our left.

Witness the typical mountain village lifestyle, unique structures of wooden Himalayan houses and the way they store their Cattle. The water streams managed by the villagers for irrigation purposes, the lush green step farms along with the small canals with pure mineral water. The scene can be mesmerizing for any city dweller.

Follow the trail to cross dense forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendrons. The trek continues to climbs to the village of Tugasi village. The first campsite, Chitrakantha offers an impressive snow-capped ridge with views of the Chaukhamba peak. Enjoy the bonfire and delicious dinner at Chitrakantha campsite.



Day 03: Chitrakantha to Tali Top (6 km Trek / 4 Hrs)

Start your day early with warm-up exercises followed by a wholesome breakfast. Today, you'll trek 6 km or 4 hrs to scale heights up to 3,500 meter till Tali Top Campsite. The campsite of Tali is surrounded by dense forest with a stream flowing close by. 

During winters, most of the campsite are snow covered and one has to camp on snow as well. Reach Tali Top Bugyal, a Himalayan meadow which lies on the North Face of Mt. Nanda Devi and Mt. Doonagiri. Enjoy the campfire and delicious dinner at the Tali Top campsite.


Day 04: Tali Top - Khullara - Kuari Pass - Tali Campsite (15 km Trek, 8 hrs)

Today will be a long and strenuous day. Start your trek to Kuari Pass after early morning breakfast. First one hour is easy and gradual up to the Khullara. After that, you will start the climb to Khullara Top. After 2 Kms from Tali, you'll reach a place where a flag has been hoisted on the trail leading to Kuari Pass. The Kuari Pass is 4 Km further from this Flag Point.

The highest altitude on this trek is Kuari Top (3876 meters) which is 700 meters before the Kuari Pass (3504 meters). Walk carefully over the snow-filled patches to arrive at Kuari Pass and witness the 360-degree views of the Himalayas. You can see Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Dronagiri, Nilgiri and Hathi Ghoda peaks on one side and Trishul, Nanda Devi straight ahead of you.

Here you'll be greeted by gushing chill winds and view of the towering Nanda Devi Peak, the highest peak located entirely within India. Capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment in your Camera. After spending some quality time, follow the same path to return back to Tali Campsite. Enjoy the campfire and delicious dinner at the campsite near Tali Lake.



Day 05: Tali to Joshimath via Auli (8 km, 4 hrs)

After morning breakfast, follow the downhill trail to Auli - The Skiing Capital Of India. En route you'll cross the famous Gorson Bugyal meadow. Enjoy the views of the route leading to the famous Nanda Devi Sanctuary, along the Rishi Ganga river. After a trek of 4 hours, you'll reach Auli, a popular hill station, and skiing destination. Take a Cab from Auli to drive back to Joshimath for an overnight stay.


Day 06: Joshimath to Dehradun/Haridwar (265 km Drive/ 10 hours)


After early morning breakfast, drive back to Haridwar / Dehradun to reach by 6 pm at evening.
